Great Men in Good Shoes

Client: Bronx Footwear | Role: Concept development, art direction, design

The Challenge

Bronx needed a retail poster series that spoke directly to its core audience: confident, practical South African men who value reliability more than trends. The visuals had to feel authentic and grounded, while still offering strong shelf and in-store impact.

The challenge was to balance the masculine tone with clean composition and a strong product focus.

The Idea

The concept leaned into confidence — strong product photography paired with bold, simple messaging.
“Great Men in Good Shoes” became the anchor line, delivering both attitude and clarity.

The visual style used warm, textured environments to echo everyday South African contexts, ensuring accessibility and relatability.

Execution

I handled the art direction, layout and production preparation across the series.
Key responsibilities included:

• Selecting imagery that balanced product heroing with contextual lifestyle cues
• Building a typographic system with bold, masculine weight
• Designing posters that read instantly in-store
• Ensuring colour accuracy and tonal consistency across prints
• Creating clean, high-impact compositions suitable for large-format output

The overall design approach reinforced Bronx’s brand character while keeping the visuals sharp and shop-ready.

Impact

The poster series strengthened Bronx’s in-store presence with confident, high-impact visuals.
The clean hierarchy and product-led approach ensured strong readability, simple messaging and an updated, cohesive brand direction across all retail formats.
